State Control Over the Production of Alcohol and Tobacco Products to Be Improved
Uzbekistan
The Republic of Uzbekistan has adopted Law No. O‘RQ-1034, "On Amendments and Additions to Certain Legislative Acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Connection with the Improvement of the Alcohol and Tobacco Market Regulation System."
This law introduces amendments to the laws "On State Duty" and "On Licensing, Permitting, and Notification Procedures" to clarify the powers of the Alcohol and Tobacco Market Regulation Inspection as the authorized state body overseeing compliance with licensing and notification procedures in the production and wholesale trade of consumer and technical ethyl alcohol, alcoholic beverages, and tobacco products.
Additionally, the law "On State Duty" establishes deadlines for the annual state duty payment for licenses related to the production of consumer and technical ethyl alcohol, alcoholic beverages, and the wholesale trade of alcoholic products.
In this regard, the next annual payment must be made at least 30 days before the start of the following year of license usage. If the payment is not made within the established timeframe, the license will be suspended.
Furthermore, an amendment to the law "On the Distribution and Consumption Restriction of Alcohol and Tobacco Products" introduces a provision stating that wholesale trade in beer and beer-based beverages, as well as wholesale and retail trade in tobacco products, may be carried out by submitting a notification to the authorized state body before commencing such activities.
