President Shavkat Mirziyoyev removed a mayor from office and reprimanded 16 district mayors in a video conference

Today, on January 16, a video conference was held under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, where the effectiveness of efforts to attract investments and increase exports, as well as key future tasks, were discussed.
During the meeting, the governor of Syrdarya region, Akmaljon Mahmudaliyev, was dismissed from his position due to significant shortcomings in attracting investments, developing agriculture, and other areas in the region.
Akmaljon Mahmudaliyev had been the governor of Syrdarya region since November 26, 2022. He had previously worked in various positions, including as an official in the Cabinet of Ministers, the mayor of Uchquprik district in Fergana, and deputy governor for agriculture and water management in Navoi region.
Additionally, 16 mayors of districts and cities were reprimanded. "Last year, the investments in Beruniy, Qorao‘zak, Qo‘ng‘irot, Peshku, Yangiobod, Qamashi, Xonqa, and Shovot districts did not even reach 15 million dollars. Exports decreased in Romitan, Dehqonobod, Mirishkor, Chiroqchi, Narpay, Nurobod, and Guliston districts, and in the city of Ohangaron. These 16 district and city mayors have been reprimanded," the President’s press service reported.

Mayor of Beruniy district, Khidirov Ikrom Torebayevich;
Mayor of Qorao‘zak district, Baymuratov Anvar Maxsetovich;
Mayor of Qo‘ng‘irot district, Madaminov Bekzod Baxodirovich;
Mayor of Peshku district, Davlatov Hayot Hasanovich;
Mayor of Yangiobod district, Qarshiboyev Ibroxim Boltayevich;
Mayor of Qamashi district, Usmonov Xurshid Abdukarimovich;
Mayor of Xonqa district, Davlatov Muradbek Saparboyevich;
Mayor of Shovot district, Xolboyev Oybek Madaminovich;
Mayor of Romitan district, Barnoyev Umedjon Isoyevich;
Mayor of Dehqonobod district, Shokirov Sherzod O‘tkilovich;
Mayor of Mirishkor district, G‘ulomov Fayzullo Qurbonovich;
Mayor of Chiroqchi district, Yusupov Fayzulla Yakubovich;
Mayor of Narpay district, Buranov Sherbek Erkinovich;
Mayor of Nurobod district, Berdikulov Sirojiddin Valikulovich;
Mayor of Guliston district, Mamadaminov Ulmasjon Yarmaxammatovich;
Mayor of Ohangaron city, Rajabboyev Muzaffar Erkaboyevich.
The video conference also introduced a new system for monitoring investments. This year, the Prime Minister will approve a monthly plan for attracting 42 billion dollars in foreign investments, and regional and district mayors, as well as industry leaders, will focus on investments two days a week. Officials must frequently visit regions, meet with entrepreneurs, and resolve issues on-site.
