Prices Increased in Uzbekistan in January

Official inflation in Uzbekistan in January stood at 0.72%, higher than in January last year. Potato prices rose by 23.9%, sunflower oil by 2.2%, and meat by 1.1–1.2%. Payments for public kindergartens increased by 21%. This was reported by Gazeta.uz .
According to the Statistics Agency under the President, the inflation rate in Uzbekistan in January 2025 was 0.72%.
This is higher than the 0.64% recorded in January 2024 but lower than the 0.82% inflation rate in January 2023.
Annual inflation (compared to January of the previous year) accelerated to 9.89% (up from 9.8% in December).
In the first month of the year, food prices increased by 0.8% (2.6% over the past year), non-food prices by 0.3% (7.7%), and paid services by 1.1% (27%).
In January, the main price increases were observed in the following consumer goods: beef with bones – 1.1% (14.8% over the past year), lamb – 1.2% (16.2%), sunflower oil – 2.2% (18.1%), cottonseed oil – 1.9% (19.5%), and milk – 0.3% (0.8%).
Over the past month, egg prices fell sharply by 14.3% (-22.4% over the year), rice and rice groats by 1% (-6.9%), chicken meat by 0.1% (-2.1%), and sugar by 0.7% (-4.1%).
Potato prices rose by 23.9% (previously reported reasons for the increase), onions by 3.4%, carrots by 2.9%, eggplants by 59.6%, bell peppers by 13.2%, lemons by 7.9%, cabbage by 6.9%, and bananas by 6.5%.
Tomatoes (-1.1%) and cucumbers (-1.7%) became cheaper.
Over the past 12 months, potatoes have risen in price by 68.1%, carrots by 24.1%, cabbage by 13.1%, and onions by 1.9%. During the same period, cucumbers (-21.7%), tomatoes (-36.9%), and apples (-14.4%) became cheaper.
Alcoholic beverages increased by 0.4% in January (10% over the year), and tobacco products by 0.7% (11.8%).
The only increase in tariffs in January was recorded in waste disposal services (4.6%).
Gas and electricity remain the main contributors to annual inflation, rising by 2.3 and 1.7 times, respectively.
Hotel services increased by 5.7% in January and by 10.5% annually.
Wedding rings made of precious metals increased in price by another 3.8%.
