During the meeting, Belousov thanked the North Korean leader "for his commitment to deepening relations with Russia" and stated that "among the countries, only a few pursue an absolutely independent foreign policy," referring to North Korea.

Belousov also invited North Korean military forces to participate in the military parade in Moscow on Victory Day. "Russia expects a positive response to the invitation to send North Korean Armed Forces units to participate in the military parade on Red Square on May 9," said the Russian Ministry of Defense.

It is worth noting that in June 2024, Vladimir Putin visited North Korea. During the visit, North Korea and Russia signed an agreement on comprehensive strategic partnership. In late October, Western media reported that North Korea had sent up to ten thousand soldiers to Russia to participate in combat operations against Ukraine.
