Russia Urges Diplomats to Evacuate Kyiv Ahead of May 9
World
Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova announced that an urgent note has been sent to foreign nations, urging the immediate evacuation of their diplomats and citizens from Kyiv. Moscow asserts that any attempts to attack the Russian capital on May 9 will result in "inevitable and massive strikes against decision-making centers" in Ukraine.
The impetus for this sharp diplomatic move was Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s statement at the Yerevan summit regarding potential drone attacks on Moscow during the holiday parade. In response to these threats, the Russian Ministry of Defense and the MFA issued an official warning. Maria Zakharova emphasized that the responsibility for the safety of foreign personnel now rests entirely with the leadership of countries that ignore these risks. She labeled Western politicians "accomplices to the Kyiv regime's plans," accusing them of supplying weapons and distorting the history of World War II.
The Russian Ministry of Defense confirmed its readiness to take "all necessary security measures"; however, should the threats be realized, the military leadership promises to launch a missile strike on the center of Kyiv. Moscow characterizes these actions as an "inevitable response to aggression." Foreign diplomatic missions have been strongly advised to ensure the early departure of their staff to avoid the consequences of an escalation that, according to the Russian side, could become uncontrollable in the coming days.
