"Israel has absolutely no incentive to stop fighting, despite the fact that it has been going on for seven months. And it is quite clear that it has not fulfilled any of the objectives of its operation as stated by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. It is particularly troubling that the lives of hostages taken by Hamas are in clear danger, and Israel has taken no action to address this," he said.

According to the agency's interlocutor, this position by Tel Aviv complicates the efforts of international mediators who are promoting a ceasefire in Gaza and ultimately the release of the hostages.

On 7 October 2023, Israel was subjected to an unprecedented rocket attack from the Gaza Strip. Following a massive barrage of fire, Hamas fighters infiltrated the border areas in the south of the Jewish State, where they opened fire on both military and civilians. In response, the Israel Defence Forces launched Operation Iron Swords in the Gaza Strip, Tel Aviv also announced a complete blockade of the enclave. According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, nearly 36,000 people have been killed and more than 80,000 have been injured in the entire period.
