Seven universities of Uzbekistan entered the global ranking QS-2026

The international ranking of the world's best universities QS World University Rankings 2026 has been published, which includes seven universities from Uzbekistan. Five of them are represented in this authoritative list for the first time, two have significantly improved their positions.
According to the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the country entered the top nine countries in terms of the number of new universities included in the ranking. The list of QS-2026 includes:
The Regional Director of QS Quacquarelli Symonds, Sergey Khristalyubov, noted:
"The active growth of Uzbekistan's universities in the QS ranking is a result of the systemic reforms being carried out in the country in the areas of education quality, international cooperation, innovative research, and competitiveness."
Previously, the achievements of Uzbek universities were also noted in another prestigious ranking - The Impact Rankings 2025 by the Times Higher Education agency. This ranking included 59 universities in the country, and 12 universities entered the top 1000, including three universities in the 201-300 group. The assessment was conducted based on the contribution to achieving the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the UN.
- National Research University "Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers" - rose to 469th place (in 2025, it ranked 547th);
- Uzbekistan National University - improved its position to the 721-730 group (in 2025, it was in the range of 781-790);
- Tashkent State Technical University - entered the ranking for the first time, taking 901-950th places;
- Samarkand State University - debuted in group 1001-1200;
- Tashkent State University of Economics - for the first time represented at the 1001-1200 level;
- Tashkent State Transport University - included in group 1201-1400;
- Tashkent University of Information Technologies - ranked 1401+.
