President Shavkat Mirziyoyev left for Syrdarya region on 14 March to get acquainted with the living conditions of the population.

On the way, the head of state had a sincere conversation with Mufti Nuriddin Kholiknazarov, Chairman of the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan. They talked about the ongoing work in the spiritual and educational sphere, the virtues of the holy month of Ramadan.

As is known, on 11 March, the Muslims of Uzbekistan, like the entire Islamic Uma around the world, greeted this blessed month with joy. Uzbeks who are fasting are performing their religious rituals in peace and well-being. The Quran is read in mosques, and prayers for peace, abundance and prosperity are offered for the benefit of the Uzbek people.

The Mufti noted that such qualities as tolerance and generosity are even more vividly manifested on these bright days, with citizens of Uzbekistan striving to increase good deeds at the call of their hearts.

The President shared his views on how to spend this month honourably, the need to appreciate peace in our country and strengthen the atmosphere of kindness and mutual assistance. It was stressed that the policy of elevating human honour and dignity, safeguarding the interests of the people and supporting the needy will be continued.

The development of entrepreneurship and full utilisation of the potential of homestead and households were noted as an important aspect of improving the living standards of the rural population. The importance of raising young people to be educated, enlightened and patriotic individuals, and instilling in them diligence in study and labour was mentioned.
