Shavkat Mirziyoyev: respect for human honour and dignity begins first of all with respect for our dear women
"We look forward to this day every year, with a special warmth in our hearts. On this festive day, we all bow before the greatness of mothers, highly honoured women who gave us life, surrounded us with love and brought us up. After all, respect for human honour and dignity begins first of all with respect for our dear women," the President said.

The President dwelt on the tasks aimed at improving women's health, ensuring their employment, developing women's entrepreneurship and strengthening social protection envisaged in the State Programme for the Year of Support for Youth and Business.

A special commission headed by the President of the Senate will be organised in this direction. The commission will work in each region until 8 March next year, where it will organise activities to train women in professions, ensure their employment and attract them to entrepreneurship on the basis of a completely new system and approaches.

The regional, district and city governors, deputy governors for women's affairs and active women, together with the Commission, will be responsible for providing employment for nearly 580,000 unemployed women in 9,442 makhallas during the current year.

In general, a separate programme will be adopted within a month to widely involve women in entrepreneurship, and 15 trillion sums will be allocated for the implementation of projects. In addition, grants of $100 million will be attracted from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Japan, South Korea and Germany.

The attention paid to women in Uzbekistan is recognised internationally. In a recently published World Bank index, Uzbekistan was noted as one of the five countries in the world that are developing most rapidly in the area of gender equality.

Women from different regions of Uzbekistan, representatives of state and public organisations celebrated the holiday at a festive table.

The event continued with a colourful concert programme.
