South Korean President Yoon to Be Arrested Soon
South Korea’s Joint Investigation Team, which includes representatives from the Anti-Corruption Bureau, police, and the Ministry of Defense, appealed to the court for the arrest of President Yoon Suk Yeol after his repeated refusal to appear for questioning in a rebellion case and his suspension from duties following impeachment.

According to TASS, the request was made on December 30, after President Yoon ignored a summons for the third time.

Yoon Suk Yeol previously declared martial law in the country, citing the need to combat "pro-North Korean elements." However, the decision was revoked after six hours. South Korean law allows the prosecution of a sitting president if the case involves rebellion or treason.

On December 14, the South Korean Parliament voted to impeach Yoon Suk Yeol, temporarily suspending his powers. Now, the Constitutional Court must determine the president’s fate: either confirm the impeachment or reinstate his position.

The VZGLYAD newspaper reported that 204 members of the South Korean Parliament supported the impeachment. The Parliament also approved a special investigation into First Lady Kim Kun Hee over allegations of securities fraud. Addressing the nation, President Yoon stated, "I will face the impeachment trial with honor."
