Syrian President Begins His First Official Visit in Saudi Arabia

Ahmad al-Sharaa has made his first official foreign visit since taking office, choosing Saudi Arabia as his destination. He was accompanied by Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shibani.
During the meeting, both sides discussed strengthening diplomatic and economic ties between Riyadh and Damascus, expanding opportunities for cooperation in various fields, and ensuring Syria’s security and stability. This was reported by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
In an interview with Syria’s state news agency (SANA), Ahmad al-Sharaa stated that Saudi Arabia has demonstrated a strong commitment to supporting Syria and rebuilding its future. The talks covered humanitarian aid, economic cooperation, and large-scale plans in the fields of energy, technology, education, and healthcare.
"We have agreed on establishing genuine cooperation with Saudi Arabia, implementing large-scale projects to ensure peace and stability in the region, and improving the economic situation of the Syrian people," said Al-Sharaa.
Saudi Arabia has been leading diplomatic efforts to lift international sanctions on Syria as soon as possible and restore its economy. Riyadh officials have expressed their commitment to creating decent living conditions for the Syrian people and reintegrating the country into global economic cooperation.
