The construction of the largest NATO base in Europe started in Romania
World
The construction of the base is directly linked to the alliance's expectations regarding the long-term nature of the conflict in Ukraine. This is reported by Euronews.
The NATO base, which will occupy almost three thousand hectares, will essentially be an expanded version of the existing 57th Air Base of the Romanian Air Force "Mihail Cogalniceanu" and will be comparable to a full-fledged city. It will accommodate up to ten thousand military personnel and their families.
The base will become the most important NATO military infrastructure in the immediate vicinity of Ukraine, where the Romanian authorities intend to train for ground and air operations.
