Uzbekistan
On August 18, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the newly built Olympic Village in Tashkent. Construction began in November 2022, and the complex has become one of the country’s largest sports projects and a symbol of the creative potential of the Uzbek people.
Spread across more than 100 hectares, the $290 million project was implemented by CAMC Engineering in accordance with international standards.
The village features five main sports facilities: a velodrome, a 12,000-seat stadium, an aquatics center, and arenas for team sports and martial arts.
The velodrome meets the requirements of the International Olympic Committee, with a high-quality wooden track, advanced aerodynamics, and lighting. Its stands accommodate 2,200 spectators. The venue is also suitable for table tennis and fencing.
The central stadium, with 12,000 seats and a nine-lane track, is designed for international athletics competitions, including world championships and Paralympic Games.
The Aquatics Palace includes Olympic-standard swimming pools for swimming, diving, synchronized swimming, and water polo. More than 2,000 spectators can attend events, and experts from World Aquatics confirmed the facility’s compliance with global standards.
Modern arenas for volleyball, basketball, handball, judo, boxing, and taekwondo were also built. In addition, the complex includes 15 outdoor sports grounds and a 400-bed dormitory for Paralympians.
President Mirziyoyev stressed that every international victory by Uzbek athletes is a source of national pride and inspiration for youth, calling for further development of athletics, cycling, and mass table tennis programs.
All facilities in the Olympic Village are energy-efficient, with solar panels installed above parking areas.
