U.S. President Joe Biden announced on Friday that the damage caused to the state of Florida by Hurricane "Milton" and its aftermath is estimated at around $50 billion.
The president emphasized that authorities are focused on restoring electricity in Florida and clearing debris.
"I want everyone in the affected areas to know: we will do everything we can to help you restore order and get back home," the president added.
Hurricane "Milton," classified as a Category 3 hurricane, struck the west coast of Florida near the town of Siesta Key on Wednesday at 8:30 PM local time (03:30 AM Moscow time). Wind speeds reached 193 kilometers per hour.
As a result of the hurricane, 11 people lost their lives.
"Milton" brought heavy rains and flooding to Florida, as well as at least 20 tornadoes. About 3.3 million people in the state were left without electricity.
