The President of Uzbekistan and the King of Jordan held talks

On August 26, 2025, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and King Abdullah II ibn al-Hussein of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan held high-level talks at the Congress Center in Samarkand.
King Abdullah expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and noted that his historic first state visit to Uzbekistan marks a new stage in bilateral relations.
The leaders discussed strengthening political dialogue, boosting trade and investment, and expanding cultural and humanitarian exchanges. They confirmed readiness to increase trade turnover and launch joint projects in chemical and textile industries, smart agriculture, geology, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, and tourism.
Agreements were reached to establish an Intergovernmental Commission and a Business Council, and to organize a joint business forum by the end of the year.
Special attention was given to cultural and educational ties, including cultural weeks, exhibitions, concerts, and research collaboration on shared spiritual heritage. The leaders reaffirmed the importance of promoting tolerant and enlightened Islam. President Mirziyoyev praised King Abdullah’s “Aqaba Process” initiative and proposed hosting one of its upcoming sessions in Samarkand.
Among practical outcomes, the two sides agreed to launch direct flights between their capitals and introduce a visa-free regime to boost business contacts and tourism.
