Uzbekistan
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed the construction progress of “New Uzbekistan” University and the National Library of Uzbekistan in New Tashkent.
Among the priority tasks in our country are the development of strategic sectors of the economy on a scientific basis, the expansion of innovation, and the production of high value-added products. This process is closely linked to the training of qualified personnel with modern knowledge and practical skills.
To this end, the “New Uzbekistan” University was established in accordance with the decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated June 23, 2021.
The new university complex in New Tashkent, with an initial cost of $200 million, will occupy an area of 50 hectares.
The project was developed in collaboration with Turkish specialists at the request of the New Tashkent Construction Directorate. The construction work is being carried out by the "Özgüven" company. The university complex is scheduled to be commissioned in 2027.
The complex will include five faculties for 10 thousand students, a rector's office, a library with more than a thousand seats, a museum, an exhibition hall, and multimedia rooms. A sports complex with one thousand seats, residential buildings with a capacity of 2 thousand people, a swimming pool, and dining halls will also be built for students and teachers.
Construction work is currently being carried out in three stages. The Head of our state paid special attention to the main parameters of the project, the infrastructure, and the conditions being created for the educational process. The importance of such modern educational institutions for the realization of the scientific and intellectual potential of young people was emphasized separately.
- The creative work carried out at this university, as well as the educational programs implemented here, should serve as a model for other higher education institutions, - emphasized the Head of our state.
Responsible persons have been instructed to gradually renovate and equip other universities, as well as to widely introduce advanced technologies into the educational process.
Work is also underway on the construction of a new building for the National Library of Uzbekistan on a site covering approximately 4 hectares. The building has been designed to combine traditional national architecture with modern architectural solutions.
The total area of the four-story building is over 30 thousand square meters and will be able to serve 1,420 readers at the same time. Special high-tech rooms will be created for storage, accounting, security, and sterilization of library collections.
The complex will be multifunctional and will provide online access to the electronic databases of major international and national libraries. A special environment for reading and research will be created for citizens with visual impairments. A 300-seat café, a gallery, sports grounds, and recreation areas will also be built for visitors.
The President emphasized that this library will occupy an important place among the educational and enlightenment centers being created in New Tashkent and will become a solid foundation for the intellectual development of the younger generation. It was noted that a state that invests in science and education will have high economic potential.
The importance of in-depth mastery of information technology and international standards by employees for the effective use of the capabilities of a modern library was emphasized.
