On April 23, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, held a telephone conversation with the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. This was reported by the press service of the President of Uzbekistan.

It is reported that the head of Uzbekistan expressed sincere condolences and words of support to the leader and brotherly people of Kazakhstan in connection with the loss of life caused by the large-scale floods in Kazakhstan.

It was emphasized that such natural disasters are the consequences of negative climate changes observed in the region in recent times.

An agreement was reached to continue close practical cooperation in this direction.

The presidents of the two countries discussed current issues of further expanding Uzbek-Kazakh relations of good neighbourliness, strategic partnership, and alliance in the context of implementing agreements reached during the recent working meeting in the city of Khiva.

Regional agenda items and the schedule of upcoming high-level events were also discussed.
