A meeting between the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin was held in a narrow format at the Kuksaroy Residence, reports the press service of the Uzbekistan President.

At the beginning of the conversation, Shavkat Mirziyoyev warmly welcomed the distinguished guest, emphasizing that one of his first foreign trips after the re-election of the President of Russia is to Uzbekistan.

During the meeting, issues of further development and deepening of comprehensive strategic partnership and alliance between Uzbekistan and Russia were discussed.

It was noted that fruitful meetings of parliamentarians, political consultations, the Innoprom exhibition, conferences of rectors of leading engineering universities and heads of authoritative medical institutions of the two countries in Tashkent, as well as events of the Russian Art Week, were held in preparation for the current visit.

The growing dynamics of trade and economic cooperation was noted with satisfaction. Trade turnover volumes and Russian investments in Uzbekistan are increasing, industrial cooperation is developing. The portfolio of joint projects amounted to $45 billion.

An agreement was reached on the launch of a Joint Investment Platform to support joint projects of leading enterprises.

The Presidents emphasized the importance of further development of interregional cooperation.

The leaders also discussed in detail the development of mutually beneficial cooperation in the fields of energy, including nuclear energy, agriculture, innovation, migration, security, and others.

Special attention was paid to cooperation in the field of education and training of engineering personnel. Agreements have been reached on the opening of branches of the Moscow Bauman University and the All-Russian Academy of Foreign Trade in Uzbekistan.

The heads of state also exchanged views on regional and international agenda items of mutual interest.
