The price of customs duties reduced for the import of some cars
Uzbekistan
Customs duties on the import of new subcompact passenger cars are being reduced. A car worth $10,000 will now cost $12,066, instead of the previous $14,194.
In Uzbekistan, customs duties on certain categories of cars have been reduced. This is stated in the resolution "On additional measures to meet the needs of the population in passenger cars", signed by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on June 16.
According to the decree, the following rates of customs duties are established for new passenger cars with an engine capacity of no more than 1,200 cc until January 1, 2026:
Up to 1000 cc — 0% (now - 15% + $0.4/ cc);
1000-1200 cc — 5% (now — 15% + $0.6/ cc).
As a result, the total amount of customs duties for cars with an engine capacity of up to 1000 cc will decrease from the current 39-43% to 19-23%, and for cars with an engine capacity of 1000-1200 cc from 44-52% to 30-36%.
According to UzA calculations, when buying a car with a market price of $10 thousand, it was previously required to pay a customs duty of $1.9 thousand, VAT of $1.4 thousand, a recycling fee of about $ 846 and a customs fee of $20. In total, $4.1 thousand had to be paid for the purchase of a car.
Now, when importing a car, citizens do not have to pay customs duty, thereby VAT will fall to $1.2 thousand, this will reduce car costs by $2.1 thousand, up to $12 thousand.
When buying a car from $20 thousand, the price will drop from the current $29.8 thousand to $26.9 thousand, the UzA noted.
