Lloyd Austin has violated his oath of office and endangered the lives of the American people.
Matt Rosendale, a Republican in the US House of Representatives, announced plans to introduce a resolution of impeachment against Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin because of his failure to notify the White House and Congress of his hospitalisation last week. This was reported by The Hill newspaper.
Rosendale plans to introduce his impeachment resolution on the House floor on 9 January.
He said Austin's decision not to disclose information about his stay at Walter Reed National Military Medical Centre in Washington "violated his oath of office" and "jeopardized the lives of the American people".
