UN Special Rapporteur on occupied Palestinian territories Francesca Albaneze sharply criticized Israel's decision to withdraw from the UN Human Rights Council, calling it a display of "pride" and a refusal to recognize its responsibility to the international community.

Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar stated that the country is leaving the Council following the example of the US and accused it of "constant institutional bias." However, Albanize expressed concern that this step would lead to increased violence on the West Bank and in the Gaza Strip, calling Israel's actions a "genocide" against Palestinians.

Israel categorically denies the accusations, claiming it protects its security interests. Meanwhile, the situation in the region remains tense despite a fragile ceasefire with Hamas after 16 months of conflict.

Albaneze also commented on Donald Trump's recent statement about potential US "control" over Gaza, criticizing it for violating human rights principles and expressing surprise at the European countries' silence.
