Toll roads to be built in Uzbekistan
The President signed a decree on measures to further improve the road sector.

It is planned to start work on the design, construction and reconstruction of public motorways in accordance with international requirements for high-speed traffic, and their transfer in the future to the category of toll roads if there are alternative roads to them.

From 1 January 2024:

a warranty service life of at least 3 years is introduced for the main structural elements of facilities where construction and reconstruction works on motorways have been completed;

seasonal restrictions on the movement of cargo vehicles and road trains (trailers) (except for special vehicles) in high-temperature seasons are established on motorways;

as an experiment, projects will be implemented to involve the private sector in the operation of public roads up to 20 kilometres in length in Karakalpakstan and the regions on an outsourcing basis.

The construction of toll roads in the direction of Tashkent-Andijan, Tashkent-Samarkand and a toll tunnel at the Takhtakoracha pass is planned for 2025.
