TSUD Reports Construction of 200 New Bus Stops in Tashkent
Uzbekistan
Tashkent commuters have finally gained the comfort they’ve been waiting for: in just a few months, the capital has been transformed by a large-scale overhaul of its transport network. Inconvenient old structures are a thing of the past—replaced by high-tech waiting zones where passengers can not only take shelter from the weather but also charge their gadgets or call for help in an emergency. The Traffic Management Center (TSUD) is betting on "smart" infrastructure to make public transport more appealing than private cars.
Since late February 2026, over 200 existing bus stops have been renovated and 200 entirely new ones have been constructed across Tashkent. According to the Traffic Management Center (TSUD), the total waiting area for passengers has expanded by over 1,700 square meters. This expansion has significantly reduced crowding during peak hours.
The new pavilions have become full-fledged service hubs: they are equipped with phone charging stations, vending machines, and intelligent displays showing real-time bus arrival information. For public safety, SOS buttons have been installed at every stop. This modernization is part of a broader strategy to create a modern, secure urban environment focused on the needs of Tashkent’s residents and visitors.
