Umida Omonova became the Asian chess champion
The Asian Youth Chess Championship kicked off in El Ain (UAE) on 17 December.

Umida Omonova, who defended Uzbekistan's honour on the first day of the competition attended by 650 chess players from 41 countries, was awarded the title of Asian champion in the blitz category. Davron Sharipov also took second place, while Malikakhon Jumayeva and Khusnorakhon Khusnitdinova took third place.

Umida Omonova has already won a silver medal at the Asian Games in Hangzhou, China.
