On the eve of the state visit of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Azerbaijan, on August 21, a business forum was held in Baku with the participation of representatives of the relevant ministries and departments of the two countries, as well as more than 250 leading companies. The event was accompanied by the Minister of Investments, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan Laziz Kudratov and the Minister of Economy of Azerbaijan Mikayil Jabborov.
The event notes that in 2022 the volume of trade between the countries increased 6 times, and since the beginning of this year, by another 40%. It was noted that the heads of the two states set the task of bringing this figure to 1 billion in the coming years by increasing mutual supplies of pharmaceutical and petrochemical products, plastic products, polymers and mining products, as well as other measures.
Today, more than 200 enterprises with the participation of Azerbaijani capital operate in Uzbekistan.
At present, the process of expanding automobile production, creating cotton-textile and silk clusters in Azerbaijan, and implementing a number of joint projects for the production of building materials and jewelry in Uzbekistan has begun.
