Uzbekistan
The President held a meeting on Uzbekistan's accession to the World Trade Organization. The country is demonstrating confident progress in negotiations and legislative reforms, approaching an important international milestone.
Joining the WTO has been under the personal control of the head of state since 2023. During this time, the Working Group held four meetings, during which more than 500 issues were considered. In parallel, bilateral negotiations are underway - out of 33 partner countries, 24 have already reached agreements with Uzbekistan.
The President noted the high assessment of international partners, emphasizing that the country's reforms demonstrate commitment to the principles of open and honest trade.
By the end of the year, it was instructed to complete the remaining negotiations with nine countries, hold two meetings of the Working Group, and prepare a final report consolidating Uzbekistan's international obligations.
Special attention was paid to the development of 15 new regulatory legal acts, including updated versions of laws on the protection of the domestic market and food safety. The need for reforms in technical regulation, sanitary and phytosanitary norms, and personnel training was emphasized.
