According to Euronews, the EPCA outlines five strategic areas of cooperation: political dialogue, trade and investment, security, digital transformation, and sustainable development. The agreement aims to support Uzbekistan’s reform agenda, foster economic modernization, and provide a comprehensive legal framework for long-term partnership.

In his Independence Day message, President of the European Council António Costa stated:

“I look forward to meeting President Mirziyoyev in Brussels on October 24, where we will sign a landmark agreement that opens a new chapter in EU–Uzbekistan relations.”

At the EU–Central Asia Summit held in Samarkand, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen emphasized Uzbekistan’s key role in the Global Gateway initiative, under which the EU is allocating €12 billion for green energy, digital connectivity, transport, and critical raw materials.

“This is the beginning of a new chapter in our longstanding friendship,” she said, noting Tashkent’s growing leadership in regional cooperation.

The signing of the EPCA will mark a historic moment in Uzbekistan’s foreign policy, laying the foundation for future initiatives, including the EU–Central Asia Investment Forum, set to take place in Tashkent this November.
