Uzbekistan and India Strengthen Strategic Partnership

On August 12, 2025, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a telephone conversation with Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi. The Uzbek leader congratulated Modi and the people of India on the upcoming Independence Day, wishing peace and prosperity.
The two sides noted the dynamic development of the Uzbekistan–India strategic partnership. Since the beginning of the year, trade turnover has grown by 60%, around 40 joint ventures have been launched, and the portfolio of promising projects with Indian companies has reached $2 billion. Four branches of Indian universities are successfully operating in Uzbekistan.
Special attention was given to expanding cooperation in pharmaceuticals, chemical industry, digital economy, energy, mining, agriculture, construction, and tourism. Prospects for developing transport and transit routes within the North–South Corridor were discussed.
The leaders agreed to hold the next meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission in Tashkent, organize Days of Culture and Cinema, and enhance exchanges between regions. They also exchanged views on the regional agenda and reviewed plans for upcoming high-level meetings.
