Uzbekistan Discusses Development of AI Infrastructure and Human Capital
Uzbekistan
On October 6, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed a presentation on the development of artificial intelligence technologies in Uzbekistan and their integration into the country’s economic and social sectors.
The president noted that artificial intelligence has become a key tool in areas such as the economy, education, healthcare, and public administration, helping improve efficiency and the quality of services.
In recent years, Uzbekistan has implemented systematic reforms in the field of digital technology. The country has risen by 17 positions in the global Artificial Intelligence Index, ranking 70th among 188 nations and first in Central Asia.
Last year, Uzbekistan adopted the AI Development Strategy 2030, and a specialized center was established under the Ministry of Digital Technologies.
A total of $50 million has been allocated for AI projects, with 86 initiatives covering healthcare, education, energy, transport, agriculture, ecology, and finance. A supercomputer cluster is also being developed to provide modern computing capabilities for AI-based solutions.
President Mirziyoyev emphasized the importance of learning from both domestic and international experience and fostering cooperation with foreign experts and the private sector.
Special attention will be given to the creation of modern data centers and favorable conditions for investors interested in AI infrastructure.
Human capital development was highlighted as a key factor for success. The president called for updates to school curricula, improved IT teacher training, and the development of next-generation textbooks.
The “One Million Leaders of Artificial Intelligence” national program is being implemented, offering free online courses via aistudy.uz and omp.aistudy.uz. The initiative aims to train 1 million young professionals in AI by 2027.
Regional AI hackathons are also planned to identify and support innovative ideas. One such event — HealthTech AI Hackathon — was successfully held in Nukus, focusing on healthcare solutions.
President Mirziyoyev endorsed the proposed initiatives and instructed the government to accelerate efforts in AI implementation, strengthen human capacity, and apply leading international best practices.
