Uzbekistan–France Energy Project Portfolio Exceeds $4 Billion

Energy cooperation between Uzbekistan and France is entering a new phase, with the portfolio of ongoing and prospective joint projects already exceeding $4 billion and both sides considering new investment and technology initiatives.
Uzbekistan’s Minister of Energy Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov met with Claude Imauven, Chairman of the Uzbekistan–France Business Council at MEDEF International, and French Ambassador to Uzbekistan Walid Fouque.
The sides noted that high-level dialogue has given fresh momentum to the strategic partnership and strengthened ties between the business communities of the two countries. French companies are currently involved in three major energy projects worth $2 billion, while six additional prospective initiatives are valued at $1.8 billion.
Particular attention was paid to cooperation with EDF. Modern combined-cycle power plant projects with a total capacity of more than 3.1 GW are being implemented in the Syrdarya and Surkhandarya regions. TotalEnergies and Voltalia are also contributing to the development of solar and wind power projects and energy storage systems.
The talks covered new generation capacity, high-voltage transmission networks, gas transportation infrastructure, energy efficiency, digital technologies, engineering and workforce training.
Both sides expressed readiness to expand investment cooperation, introduce advanced technologies and launch new joint energy projects.
