Uzbekistan is reviewing its approach to energy consumption
Uzbekistan
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed proposals for improving energy efficiency on February 19. In the context of increasing energy consumption, the authorities are focusing not only on increasing production but also on competent resource conservation.
According to forecasts, by 2035, electricity consumption in the country will increase 1.7 times, while losses in the networks remain high - 14% for electricity and more than 7% for gas. To reduce these figures, reserves of 4.6 billion kWh and 1 billion cubic meters of gas have already been identified in seven regions.
The proposed measures include replacing outdated equipment, expanding the use of "green" energy, and increasing energy efficiency in industrial enterprises. In 2025, it is planned to save 1.6 billion cubic meters of gas and 3.5 billion kWh of electricity.
The President emphasized that energy saving should become a priority in all sectors of the economy, and gave specific instructions on reducing losses, combating embezzlement, and implementing energy-saving technologies.
