Uzbekistan moved up five positions in the Corruption Perceptions Index

The introduction of strict accountability measures against officials who have committed corruption offences was noted as a positive change in this regard.
The results of the Corruption Perceptions Index for 2023 were announced today by the international anti-corruption organisation Transparency International.
Among 180 countries, Uzbekistan ranked 121st with 33 points. It is important to note that the country managed to improve its place in the ranking by 5 positions (was 126th in 2022), increasing its points by 2.
Uzbekistan is recognised in this index as a country that has demonstrated high growth rates over the last 7 years (from 22 points in 2017 to 33 points in 2023).
The development of various anti-corruption procedures aimed at realising the tasks defined by regulatory legal acts, effective implementation of internal anti-corruption control systems in ministries and agencies were noted as positive changes in this direction.
