Among the Central Asian countries in the ranking, Kazakhstan took 28th place, Kyrgyzstan - 40th.

Uzbekistan ranked 21st in the Global Hunger Index
According to the Food and Agriculture Organization's 2022 Global Hunger Index, Uzbekistan ranked 21st among the best countries with a score of 5.6. This indicator means that the country will not suffer from food shortages.

The leading countries in the Global Hunger Index are Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Chile. The lowest rates are observed in the countries of Madagascar, the Central African Republic and Yemen.

The rest of the CIS countries took the following places: Kazakhstan - 24; Russia - 28; Armenia - 32; Azerbaijan - 36; Ukraine - 36; Kyrgyzstan - 40; Tajikistan - 67.

This year, 121 countries participated in the Global Hunger Index.

For reference, the Global Hunger Index is determined by four indicators:

proportion of undernourished population;
percentage of children under five years of age who are underweight;
the proportion of children under five years of age is below normal;
mortality rate for children under five years of age.
