Uzbekistan Sold $3.6 Billion Worth of Gold in Three Months
Uzbekistan
Uzbekistan sold $3.6 billion worth of gold in the first three months of 2025, accounting for 44% of the country’s total export revenue in the first quarter. This was reported by the State Statistics Committee.
Between January and March, Uzbekistan's exports totaled $8.1 billion, an increase of 24.4% compared to the same period in 2024. This growth is largely attributed to the Central Bank’s sales of gold at high prices.
In the first quarter alone, the country exported approximately $3.57 billion worth of gold, which made up 44% of total exports. This figure is significantly higher than in previous years. For example, during the same period in 2024, $2.664 billion worth of gold was exported.
Even during the record-breaking first quarter of 2023, when total exports reached $8.1 billion, only $2.4 billion came from gold sales.
In other years, gold exports during the first quarter amounted to:
2021 — $1 billion;
Q1 2022 — $2.97 billion;
2020 — no gold exports.
Gold export values for Q1 in earlier years were:
2015 — $823.9 million;
2016 — $375.1 million;
2017 — $388.7 million;
2018 — $1.3 billion;
2019 — $1.2 billion.
