Uzbekistan’s First Ambassador Presents Credentials to the President of Montenegro

In the history of bilateral relations, Uzbekistan’s first Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Montenegro, Oybek Shakhavdinov (with residence in Budapest), presented his credentials to the President of Montenegro, Jakov Milatović, on November 25.

During the meeting held after the official ceremony at the Presidential Palace, the current state and prospects of Uzbekistan-Montenegro relations were discussed, along with tasks aimed at elevating these relations to a new qualitative level.

President Jakov Milatović congratulated the people of Uzbekistan on the achievements in socio-economic development and wished the country peace, progress, and prosperity. He also emphasized the importance of the initiatives taken by Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in implementing reforms and strengthening international cooperation.

Montenegro highly values the potential of bilateral relations, particularly in the trade, economic, investment, and cultural sectors. The President stated that creating favorable conditions for tourism and humanitarian exchanges is one of the key goals.

It should be noted that diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and Montenegro were established on December 19, 2006.

Oybek Shakhavdinov became the first ambassador of Uzbekistan to Slovenia on October 23 and to Croatia. In March 2024, he was appointed Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Hungary.
