On December 17, engineers from UzSAT in Uzbekistan participated in the launch of the new O3b mPower 7 & 8 satellites based on a special offer from SES, the satellite communication operator. The launch took place from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center at Cape Canaveral, Florida.
The satellites were placed into orbit using a "Falcon 9" heavy-class rocket with a reusable first stage, in collaboration with the SpaceX team.
Before the launch, UzSAT’s technical experts in Uzbekistan installed SES equipment to test the O3b satellites. Uzbekistan became one of the first countries to receive new equipment and authorization from SES for testing and usage.
The state-private company UzSAT is developing satellite communication and internet services in Uzbekistan by establishing its VSAT network. In 2024, UzSAT will complete the construction of the first ground satellite communication station, with the second ground station expected to be completed in 2025.
Additionally, in August of this year, UzSAT, in collaboration with the radio communication, broadcasting, and television center, broadcasted signals from 12 state, 7 private Uzbek TV channels, and 4 radio stations to over 15 countries worldwide, reaching 760 million people. This had a positive impact on strengthening and preserving the cultural heritage of the Uzbek people living in Central Asia, Afghanistan, the Middle East, and various European countries.
