VAT will be refunded to foreign patients visiting clinics in Uzbekistan

This and much more was discussed at a video conference held on June 3 under the chairmanship of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, according to the press service of the President of Uzbekistan.
Numerous projects and initiatives were reviewed during the meeting, including:
– A tourism cluster will be created in the city of Shakhrisabz and the Shakhrisabz district.
– The Hisorak-Gelon and Hisorak-Sarchashma roads, spanning 33 kilometres, will be expanded and repaired.
– The Chirakchi-Shurkuduk road will be repaired, reducing travel time from Samarkand to Shakhrisabz.
– Three hydroelectric power plants with a capacity of 24 megawatts will be launched on the Oksu River, which flows through Gelon.
– The Shakhrisabz Tourism College will implement a Swiss program to train 100 specialists per year.
– Land will be auctioned for the construction of water parks and projects along lake shores.
– Medical and wellness tourism will be developed. In this regard, the launch of the "Medical Hospitality" program based on the experiences of South Korea, Türkiye, and India was announced.
– The expenses of private clinics for international certification and participation in overseas exhibitions will now be covered by the state budget.
– Foreign patients visiting clinics will receive VAT refunds.
– Doctors traveling abroad to provide promotional and diagnostic services will have their travel and living expenses reimbursed.
– The importance of further simplifying border crossings was emphasized.
– The Ministry of Transport was instructed to increase the number of international flights and launch a unified online platform providing information on all flights and ticket purchasing options.
– A global advertising campaign showcasing Uzbekistan’s full tourism potential will be launched.
– The system for issuing electronic visas will be improved and a mobile application for it will be launched.
In conclusion, the President proposed the creation of a public council for the development of tourism, which was warmly supported by the representatives of the sphere and entrepreneurs present at the meeting.
