Yellen: US wants a healthy relationship with China
World
Relations between the world's largest economies are improving, but the US has warned China against supporting Russia.
On 10 November, the US and China agreed to restore "healthy economic relations". This was announced by US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen after a two-day meeting with Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng.
“We do not seek to decouple our economy from China’s. This would be damaging to both the U.S. and China and destabilizing for the world” Ms. Yellen said.
It is noted that the talks helped set the stage for a meeting between President Joe Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit next week.
