Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky once again emphasized that he is ready to sign an agreement between Kyiv and Washington on mineral extraction and expressed his desire to hold a "constructive dialogue" with the U.S. He stated this in an interview with the British media company BBC.
"I just want Ukraine's position to be heard," Zelensky said.
He also added: "We want our partners to remember who started this war."
After the European leaders' summit held in London on March 2, Zelensky said that his recent meeting with U.S. officials in Washington had benefited neither Kyiv nor the U.S., but was only advantageous to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Despite this, the Ukrainian leader stressed that he is ready to return to the White House if invited.
Zelensky made this statement following negotiations in the British capital. During the meeting, European leaders agreed on a four-point plan to end the war and protect Ukraine from future Russian aggression.
U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, in an interview with CBS News, stated that the agreement on rare earth metals is currently not on the negotiation table.
"I think we first need to determine whether President Zelensky wants to continue the peace process. If he wants the fighting to continue, what is the point of an economic agreement? President Trump wants a peace agreement," Bessent said.
He also added: "All President Zelensky had to do was come and sign this economic agreement, but he ruined everything," said the Secretary.
He also added: "We want our partners to remember who started this war."
