Zelensky Prepares New Personnel Move, Offers Prime Minister a New Position
Political
Ukraine may be entering another round of high-level government reshuffles. President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that he had offered Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko a new position and signaled further changes within the Cabinet of Ministers and the country's law enforcement leadership.
According to the president, he thanked Svyrydenko for her effective service as prime minister and offered her the opportunity to lead a new strategic area of cooperation with one of Ukraine's key international partners. He did not specify the exact position.
Svyrydenko became prime minister in July 2025 following a broader government reshuffle and has served in the role for approximately one year.
Opposition lawmaker Yaroslav Zhelezniak suggested that Svyrydenko could be appointed Ukraine's ambassador to the United States. In his view, such a move could trigger a broader restructuring of the Ukrainian government.
President Zelensky stated only that "relevant changes" in the government are being prepared and added that reforms would also affect the leadership of law enforcement agencies.
According to Reuters, citing sources in Ukraine's parliament, potential candidates for the prime minister's post include former Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov, and Naftogaz CEO Serhii Koretskyi.
No official appointments have been announced so far, and information regarding possible successors remains based on political assessments and media sources.
