The victims were part of a school group from Uthai Thani province on a field trip to the Thai capital. The bus was carrying 38 children and 6 teachers at the time of the fire. Authorities confirmed that 16 children and 3 teachers were rescued and hospitalized.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing an explosion at the back of the bus, which led to the fire. Preliminary investigations suggest that the fire started after the bus's tire burst, causing it to crash into a metal barrier, igniting the fuel tank.

Thailand's Minister of Transport, Suria Tyunggrungriangkit, announced that the safety of using compressed natural gas as fuel would be reevaluated in light of this tragic incident.
