President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has declared the current year as the “Year of Vocational Training” and set a goal to significantly expand the enrollment of 9th-grade graduates into technical schools.

A Professional Education Agency will be established in Uzbekistan
Today, Uzbekistan has 598 technical schools (colleges) with the capacity to accept up to 450,000 students. However, out of 608,000 ninth-grade graduates this year, only 182,000 continued their studies in these institutions.

The President stressed that technical schools are a vital resource and opportunity for young people, which must be fully utilized.

Education authorities, together with local administrations, have been tasked with introducing modern training programs and international standards into technical schools, building on the experience of Presidential and specialized schools.

By the next academic year, at least 50% of 9th-grade graduates — an additional 200,000 students — must be covered by the vocational education system.

To coordinate this work under a unified policy, a new Agency for Vocational Education will be established.
