Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan plan to export green energy to Europe

At a meeting of the energy and economy ministers of Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan in Baku, an agreement was reached to discuss the prospects of exporting electricity from Central Asian countries to Europe via Azerbaijan.
Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan agreed to prepare technical conditions and then create a joint venture for export of green energy to Europe. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan.
"The relevant agreement was reached at the meeting of the energy and economy ministers of Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan held in Baku to discuss the prospects of exporting electricity from Central Asian countries to Europe through the territory of Azerbaijan. Following the meeting, the heads of departments signed a joint communiqué in which they noted the countries' potential in the field of renewable energy and readiness to join the project of exporting electricity from alternative sources to Europe," the report says.
It is noted that the participants agreed to establish a joint working group to develop terms of reference for cooperation in the field of energy exchange with a focus on renewable energy sources; in the field of opportunities for the development and export of green hydrogen and green ammonia and the creation of related infrastructure.
"Based on the developed and approved terms of reference, a tender will be issued for the preparation of a pre-feasibility study. The participants also agreed to explore the prospect of establishing a joint venture for the project implementation," the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan said in a statement.
