President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree on the large-scale reform of civil service, which provides for the systematic improvement of the quality of life of civil servants and the strengthening of anti-corruption measures by changing behavioral attitudes.

Comprehensive assessment of civil servants will begin in Uzbekistan
Starting January 1, 2026, an annual mandatory medical check-up will be introduced for all civil servants, which will allow for the timely detection and prevention of diseases. The food service system in government institutions will also change - canteens will be outsourced with an emphasis on healthy and balanced nutrition, while the sale of sweets and fatty foods will be limited.

Among the innovations are the introduction of recommendations for physical activity, monitoring of the body mass index of employees through a special platform of the Agency for the Development of Public Service. Together with the Ministry of Sport and the Federation of Trade Unions, physical fitness standards and a list of recommended sports and equipment for civil servants will be developed.

Special attention is paid to the balance between work and personal life. Within the framework of the initiative, a regular "Family Day" has been introduced, during which civil servants will be encouraged to spend time with their families, participate in activities to reduce stress and strengthen the psychological climate in collectives.

A new element of the reform will also be the intellectual evaluation of candidates for public service. For them, a mandatory IQ test is being introduced, as well as a comprehensive test based on a number of criteria: knowledge of the state language, computer literacy, knowledge of the history of Uzbekistan, foreign languages, general erudition, skills in working with documents, and psychological diagnostics.

The reform is aimed at forming a professional, competent, and morally stable personnel of the civil service.
