President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s Act of High Humanitarianism

In honor of the 33rd anniversary of Uzbekistan’s independence, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree pardoning 522 individuals serving sentences for crimes. These individuals have sincerely repented for their actions and are determined to reform.
Under the decree, 159 people have been fully released from their sentences, 303 have been conditionally released early, and the sentences of 60 individuals have been reduced. Among those pardoned are 19 foreign citizens, 56 women, 25 men over the age of 60, and 233 individuals under the age of 30, including one minor.
Special attention was given to those involved in banned organizations, with 27 such individuals among the pardoned. The President has tasked relevant ministries and agencies with ensuring that these individuals are reunited with their families, receive social support, and are integrated back into productive societal roles.
