Fines are being introduced for driving on sidewalks and "A" lanes
Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a law on April 10th to strengthen penalties for driving in unauthorized places. Amendments have been made to the Administrative Responsibility Code and provide for specific fines for travel:

on the sidewalks;

pedestrian and bicycle paths;

green zones adjacent to them;

allocated lanes for public transport ("A" lanes).

First-time offenders will be fined 1 BCA (375,000 soums). If the violation is repeated within a year, the amount will increase to 3 BRV (1,125,000 soums).

The law also introduces liability for the installation of illegal barriers and objects that obstruct traffic, as well as for non-compliance with the requirements of road signs and other rules.

The document has been finally approved and is coming into force.
