The hotel had 234 registered guests, all of whom were Turkish citizens. The cause of the fire is still unknown. This event coincided with the start of the national school holidays when skiers from Istanbul and Ankara typically travel to the Bolu mountains.

Local authorities reported that firefighters arrived at the scene within 40 minutes. The interior minister, health minister, and minister of culture and tourism also visited the site to offer support. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan expressed condolences to the families of the deceased.

Every year, hundreds of tourists visit Turkey's ski resorts, but such incidents highlight the need for stronger safety measures. An investigation is underway, and new security protocols are planned once the cause of the fire is determined.
