The United Kingdom will increase labor migration quotas for citizens of Uzbekistan, the Migration Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers reported.
Agency head Behzod Musaev and Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to London Ravshan Usmanov held talks with David Camp, CEO of the UK’s Association of Labour Providers (ALP). The parties discussed expanding cooperation in attracting Uzbek workers to agriculture and other sectors.
“We are ready to move to a new stage of partnership with the Migration Agency and support the employment of young Uzbeks at enterprises in England,” said David Camp.
As a result of the talks, an agreement was reached to increase quotas for seasonal jobs for Uzbek citizens, as well as to sign new contracts with recruiting operators. Special attention will be given to ensuring safe and organized recruitment.
Additionally, Musaev and Usmanov met with Eliza McCaffrey, head of the Gangmasters and Labour Abuse Authority (GLAA) under the UK Home Office. The parties signed a memorandum of cooperation providing for the protection of the rights of Uzbek labor migrants.
Earlier, it was reported that Saudi Arabia also plans to expand recruitment of seasonal workers from Uzbekistan.
