Most Russian billionaires continued to get richer despite the Western sanctions. Their total fortune totalled $328.53 billion.
Despite Western sanctions, the combined fortunes of Russia's 25 richest businessmen increased by $50.01 billion in 2023.
According to the index of billionaires from Bloomberg, published on 2 January, their combined fortune is $328.53 billion.
It was reported that the capital of Vagit Alekperov, one of the owners of Lukoil, increased by $9.29 billion and reached $24.7 billion.
The fortune of only one Russian billionaire, Vyacheslav Kantor, who is included in the Bloomberg index, decreased. Kantor, a major shareholder in fertiliser company Akron, lost $149 million last year.
Currently, the top five richest Russians are as follows:
Vladimir Potanin (+2.49 billion dollars, total wealth 31.1 billion)
Leonid Mikhelson (+2.83 billion dollars, total wealth 27.5 billion)
Vagit Alekperov (+9.29 billion dollars, total wealth 24.7bn)
Vladimir Lisin (+4.08 billion dollars, total wealth 23.9 billion)
Alisher Usmanov (+2.61 billion dollars, total wealth 21.1 billion)
