In the framework of the 16th summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization, which is held in Tashkent, signed an agreement between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan on regulating the activities of the International Centre for Industrial Cooperation "Central Asia".

The document was signed by Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan Laziz Kudratov and Minister of Trade and Integration of Kazakhstan Arman Shakkaliev.

The tasks of the centre include:

creating favourable conditions for the development of interstate cooperation ties and international value chains;

increasing the efficiency of utilisation of the production base of the border territories;

optimisation of production processes, modernisation and improvement of competitiveness of industrial enterprises on the territory of the Centre;

expansion of industrial co-operation between the two states and establishment of import-substituting production, etc.
